Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer (Hybrid) Location Hybrid work in Fort Wayne, IN : What is a Supplier Quality Engineer at BAE Systems? It is a highly empowered role with strategic and tactical Supplier Quality responsibilities for given commodities/suppliers. BAE Systems is looking for a mid to senior level candidate with interest in supplier quality. In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define, support, and develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management. The qualified individual will have responsibility for supporting supply chain quality improvement initiatives across these business areas. Candidates will need to demonstrate technical capability in order to communicate effectively with design / component engineering on quality improvement topics and quality/design/process change opportunities both internally and within the supply base while keeping cost competitiveness in mind. Candidates will also need to exhibit good interpersonal skills in order to grow supplier relationships in order to support our business needs.   • Lead, drive and support quality investigations, utilizing 8D (or similar) root cause corrective action methods
  • Share best practices across BAE sites
  • Ensure timely and effective supplier oversights/audits
  • Communicate and ensure assigned supply base meets delivered quality objectives
  • Support quality improvement projects as they relate to supplier quality
  • Support supplier transitions (all types) to ensure supplier quality is not negatively impacted
  • Conduct process walks (internal and/or external) and complete follow-up improvement actions identified
  • Engage in the team-oriented environment to leverage growth and sharing while supporting a safe working environment
  • Execute projects to improve efficiencies, drive out cost, manage change, and to mitigate risks
  • Maintain compliance to established procurement and quality procedures
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format , with time split between working onsite and remotely. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Strong Technical Aptitude
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Root Cause Corrective Action
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Frequent travel to Mexico facility
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience or 8 years of expereince in lieu of degree
  • Engineering or Technical Degree
  • Quality/Engineering Investigations or Failure Analysis
  • 5+ years experience in related field
  • Quality Systems (AS9100, AS9145)
  • Lean six sigma, green/black belt
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $77814 - $132283 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
